RFI and submittal software for architects and engineers
Answer the question. Skip the email thread.
RFIs and submittals arrive with the question, drawing, location and due date together. Respond once, and the whole team sees the official answer.
Example: RFI-027, anchor bolt conflict at grid C-4 on Riverside Medical Office, shown to Hollis + Park Architects with the question, proposed solution, drawing and spec references, due date and an answer box — on a laptop and on a phone.
Fixed responses
Four answers. No ambiguity.
Every submittal review ends in one of four responses — the same four on every project, for every GC. Nobody has to interpret a margin note to find out whether they can fabricate.
- Approved
- Meets the design intent as submitted.
- Sub proceeds to fabrication.
- Approved as noted
- Acceptable with the corrections you marked.
- Sub proceeds and incorporates your notes.
- Revise and resubmit
- Not acceptable yet — corrections needed.
- A new revision comes back to you; every revision is kept.
- Rejected
- Doesn't meet the contract documents.
- Sub starts over with a new submittal.
Reviews run in order — the GC first, then your team — and each revision is kept with its response, so the history of a submittal is never in question.
The official record
What you said, when you said it.
Every answer and review your firm gives stays on the project's record, dated and under your name. When someone asks what you said about the C-4 embed, search the RFI log — not an afternoon in your sent folder.
Example: a search for “anchor” in the RFI log of Riverside Medical Office, returning three answered RFIs with their official answers.
Your turnaround
The numbers your GC sees — seen first by you.
Your firm's own view: what's open, what's late and how quickly you respond, by project. See the late ones before the GC has to ask.
Example: median RFI response 5.1 days, 4 open RFIs with 2 past due, 2 submittals in review and 11 answered this month, with a breakdown by project.
