RFI software for construction
Get RFIs answered, and know who has them
Write the question, pick who answers, set the due date and send, all on one screen. Every RFI shows who it is waiting on and for how long, and closing it records the official answer so the field builds from the right one.

RFIs

RFIs
Questions to the design team, with who owes the answer and when.
What it does
Ask, route and answer, with the official answer on record.
One-pass RFI creation
Subject, question, who answers, due date and CC on a single form. Save it as a draft or send it straight to the reviewers.
Routed to who you pick
Choose who answers from the other companies on the project: the architect, an engineer, the owner. The due date starts seven days out; change it before you send.
Ball-in-court on every row
The log shows who each RFI is waiting on, days open and whether it is overdue. Tabs for mine, open, overdue, draft and closed keep the list short.
Cost and schedule impact up front
Mark cost and schedule impact as none, possible or yes, and record the location, drawing and spec section the question is about.
Official answer locked at close
When the answers are in, the RFI manager closes it and the chosen answer is marked official. Reopen it for another round or void it; voided RFIs stay on the record.
Discussion kept with the RFI
Comments sit under the question and answers, so the back-and-forth stays with the RFI instead of in someone's inbox.
How it works
Step by step.
From the first step to the final record.
Step 1
Write the question
Give it a subject, say what is unclear and what you propose, and add the location, drawing and spec section if they help. The RFI number is assigned for you.
Step 2
Route it
Pick who should answer and who to CC, confirm the due date and send. The RFI appears in each reviewer's Inbox.
Step 3
Answer it
Reviewers read the question and write their answer on the RFI. Once every required reviewer has answered, it goes back to the RFI manager.
Step 4
Close it
The manager reviews the answers and closes the RFI, which makes the latest answer official. If it needs more, reopen it for another round.
Who uses it
Built for the whole project team.
Everyone on the job works in the same record — each sees what their role allows.
General contractors
Writes and routes RFIs, tracks ball-in-court and due dates across the log, and closes each one with the official answer.
Subcontractors
Raises RFIs from the field and follows the answer through to close.
Owners
Sees the RFI log, including which questions carry possible cost or schedule impact.
Architects & engineers
Answers the RFIs routed to them from their Inbox, with the question, references and impact on one page.
Questions
RFIs, answered.
Who can answer an RFI?
Anyone on the project team that the RFI is routed to. You pick them when you write it: the architect, an engineer or anyone else from another company on the project.
What happens when an RFI is closed?
The RFI manager closes it once it has been answered, and the latest answer is marked as the official answer. The RFI can be reopened for another round of answers.
Can I see which RFIs are overdue?
Yes. Every RFI has a due date, the log flags the ones past due, and an Overdue tab lists them together.
Can an RFI lead to a change order?
Yes. A change order can reference the RFI that started it, so the cost change stays tied to its cause.
